چکیده

This is an analysis of the itinerant model for antiferromagnetism, in which is included both on-site and inter-site electron correlations. We also consider the band degeneration, which brings into the Hamiltonian the on-site exchange interactions. The Green function technique is used and the coherent potential approximation (CPA) decoupling for the on-site Coulomb repulsion. This decoupling combined with the modified Hartree-Fock approximation for the inter-site interactions generates the change in shape of the spin bands with growing interaction constants, which is described by the correlation factors and which decreases the kinetic energy of the system. The effective Hartree field and the gain in kinetic energy due to the on-site and inter-site correlation factors drive the antiferromagnetism. The on-site and inter-site interactions act together towards the antiferromagnetism. Their cooperation decreases the interaction constants required for the antiferromagnetic ordering. This new approach allows for the antiferromagnetic instability in the purely itinerant model at the half-filling in the split band limit. This situation describes the high temperature superconducting cuprates.

Emergent heavy fermion behavior at the Wigner-Mott transition.

We study charge ordering driven by Coulomb interactions on triangular lattices relevant to the Wigner-Mott transition in two dimensions. Dynamical mean-field theory reveals the pinball liquid phase, a charge ordered metallic phase containing quasilocalized (pins) coexisting with itinerant (balls) electrons. Based on an effective periodic Anderson model for this phase, we find an antiferromagnet...

Quantum critical behavior of itinerant ferromagnets

We investigate the quantum phase transition of itinerant ferromagnets. It is shown that correlation effects in the underlying itinerant electron system lead to singularities in the order parameter field theory that result in an effective long-range interaction between the spin fluctuations. This interaction turns out to be generically antiferromagnetic for clean systems. In disordered systems a...

Phases of anisotropic dipolar antiferromagnets: Mean field theory and Monte Carlo simulations

We study systems of classical magnetic dipoles on simple cubic lattices with dipolar and antiferromagnetic exchange interactions. By analysis and Monte Carlo MC simulations, we find how the antiferromagnetic phases vary with uniaxial and fourfold anisotropy constants C and D respectively , as well as with exchange strength J. We pay special attention to the spin reorientation SR phase, and exhi...

Plaquette Ordering in SU(4) Antiferromagnets

We use fermion mean field theory to study possible plaquette ordering in the antiferromagnetic SU(4) Heisenberg model. We find the ground state for both the square and triangular lattices to be the disconnected plaquette state. Our mean field theory gives a first order transition for plaquette ordering for the triangular lattice. Our results suggest a large number of low lying states.

Orbital and spin correlations in Ca2−xSrxRuO4: A mean field study

The alloy Ca2−xSrxRuO4 exhibits a complex phase diagram with peculiar magnetic metallic phases. In this paper some aspects of this alloy are discussed based on a mean field theory for an effective Kugel-Khomskii model of localized orbital and spin degrees of freedom. This model results from an orbital selective Mott transition which in the three-band system localized two orbitals while leaving ...
